Osaka Station North District New Urban Center Development Council publicly sought submissions for district name.
Osaka Station North District New Urban Center Development Master Plan was formulated in July 2004.
Priority development area
Urban Renaissance Agency and Japan Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Agency invited bids from developers in 2006.
Knowledge Capital Management Corporation (KMO) was established in April 2009.
Project started in the Priority Development Area of the Osaka Station North District in March 2010.
The new urban center is scheduled to be open to the public during the second half of FY2012.
Phase 2 development area
Umeda Freight Station currently in service will be relocated in the spring of 2013.
Osaka Station North District Phase 2 Development Vision was drawn up in July 2009.
Road development plan
Shin-Umeda City, the Chayamachi Area and other areas in the vicinity of Osaka Station will be more closely connected and made more easily accessible by the construction of north-south and east-west streets within the development site.

Access to Kansai International Airport will be improved by relocating the JR Tokaido branch line to underground level and opening a new station. The Osaka Station North District will thereby enhance its competitiveness in terms of access to the East Asian economies.

The Osaka Station North District is within an hour from all major cities in the Kansai Region, with access to and from the district facilitated by a well-developed railway network.
Center of an R&D network
