Panorama of district and transport access

▲Densely populated Osaka Metropolitan area is just behind the Yumeshima area.
Yumesaki Tunnel
Yumesaki Tunnel provides direct access between Sakishima and Yumeshima, and plays an indispensable role in container cargo transport, which is critical to industries and citizens’ lives. The tunnel also contributes to the community development in Yumeshima. (The tunnel was opened to traffic in August 2009.)

The well-developed expressway network ensures highly convenient accessibility.
Yumemai Bridge
Yumemai Bridge plays an important role in traffic access between Maishima and Yumeshima. It is an arched swing bridge that floats on water, the first among the world’s movable bridges, which can be moved out of the way to allow ships to pass in case the main channel in the Port of Osaka is rendered unusable.

Potential
Direction of development
Part of the Yumeshima District is used as landfill for waste from the city and soil from construction sites. In the area available for priority development, accumulation of highly-advancecl logistics facilities will increase efficiency and thus enhance the appeal of Port of Osaka as a Strategic International Container Port. At the same time, the area will be home to an increasing number of production facilities of environmental and energy-related companies that play a leading role in Japanese industry.
